Optimedia Beijing brings home the Cloud Can

BEIJING - Optimedia Beijing announced a media-planning win with consumer electronics firm Tsinghua Tongfang for its Cloud Can device. Related social planning and execution business also went to the agency’s branded content and experience division, Newcast.

Optimedia Beijing brings home the Cloud Can

Cloud Can is a household management system. It functions as a smart-home hub with cloud-based access. Tsinghua Tongfang claims the product can centralize video watching, gaming, education, safety, appliance control, medical, finance and travel programmes. The device connects the electronics makers’ smartTVs and other appliances as well as products from other vendors. The platform competes with similar offerings from Apple or Samsung.

The pitch for the launch campaign, according to sources at ZenithOptimedia, included four other agencies, UM, Maxus, Vizeum and a smaller local agency. Optimedia Beijing learned of its win back in April and started work on the project this past May. The business will extend beyond the initial launch.

Dale Liu, Optimedia Beijing General Manager commented, “We are honoured to partner with Tsinghua Tongfang to promote the idea of smarter life, which is definitely the trend around the world.”

The China-focused product release targets Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen primarily and company spokespeople said the agency’s research and market insight for those cities was key to securing the account as well as its experience-marketing strategies and audience targeting.
