Colenso BBDO Auckland and Y&R New Zealand find themselves in the rarified realm of the world's top agencies in the just-released Gunn Report for 2016.
The Gunn Report indexes the overall performance of the advertising industry based on the results of 45 global, regional and national award competitions.
Colenso BBDO placed second and Y&R in a tie for third among 2016's most-awarded agencies.
Y&R's 'McWhopper' and Colenso's 'Brewtroleum' took first and third places, respectively, in the list of most-awarded campaigns across all media; won second and third places, respectively, in the print/OOH category; and took first and second (tied), respectively, in the "All Gunns Blazing" category. The McWhopper campaign also placed at the top of the digital category.
The Gunn Report has provided the top five winners in each category (and the top 10 in one category) to Campaign (see tables below). To view The Gunn Report in full, subscribe to www.gunnreport.com.
The only other made-in-ANZ (or APAC) campaigns noted in the rankings shared with Campaign are Colenso BBDO's 'Pedigree found' at fifth in the digital category and Clemenger BBDO's 'The Boys' at eighth in the list of most-awarded campaigns across all media.
The strong year for New Zealand did not quite get the country into the top of the most-awarded countries list, where the top four—US, UK, Australia, Brazil—remained unchanged.
Leo Burnett Australia landed at position nine on the list of most-awarded agencies.
