Events agency BI Worldwide has appointed Pooja Lal as new general manager of its Melbourne-based ANZ operation. Lal was formerly the head of strategic initiatives and director of new business development for BI Worldwide’s India operation.

“There is immense opportunity in Australia and New Zealand and we are here to make an impact and increase our market share,” she said. “We will work together to amplify value to our clients and leverage our extensive knowledge in human behaviour to drive increased engagement and loyalty for our client brands."

On the new appointment, senior vice president, Asia Pacific, BI Worldwide, David Litteken said that Lal will bring passion to the GM role with her business-development skills will also elevate the company’s approaches given her background in design thinking.

“Pooja has conducted business while living in India, UAE and once before in Australia, so she also has the international experience we were looking for,” said Litteken.

Litteken said that the agency’s ANZ operation has experienced over 30% revenue growth in the past fiscal year. On top of that, the agency acquired Veritas Events three years ago which has since helped it localise production in this region, something they had to outsource in the past.

“We now have loyalty, event logistics, and creative and production services under one roof,” he said.
