The appointments come on the back of a strong year for Columbus, which has seen the agency launch an analytics division and invest considerably in its SEO offering.

Aegis Media’s managing director of search, Justine Watkins, said, “We’ve now got a very strong national management team in place as we get set for 2012. Throughout this year we’ve helped clients develop their digital strategy and seen some transition from an almost completely non-digital focus to being very strong in the online space.”

Carlill's digital career started at Espotting in London over a decade ago. He then moved to match.com as marketing manager, and over to Steak Media where he launched its Australian operations.

“Martin will be an excellent leader for his team, continue to build intercompany relationships and ensure Columbus remains the market leader for Search, Analytics and Biddable Media in the local market," said Watkins. Roberts' promotion reflects his outstanding contribution to the business, she added.
