Sam Li will lead events team across CWT’s five China offices.

CWT Meetings & Events appoints China GM

CWT Meetings & Events, Carlson Wagonlit Travel’s meeting & events division, has appointed Sam Li as general manager for China. 

Based in Beijing, Li will lead a team of meetings and events specialists across CWT’s five offices in China.

Reporting to Cindy Fisher, senior vice president and global head, CWT Meetings & Events, Li will be responsible for growing business in this market, and creating highly engaging, digital and data-driven experiences for clients.

“China presents tremendous opportunities for us, particularly with the growing interest in strategic meetings management (SMM) and companies looking to better align their business travel and M&E programmes,” Fisher said.

“Sam has extensive experience in business planning, management execution and business development for meetings and events in China. I’m confident he will be able to help our clients get the most out of their M&E programmes, and take our business in China to the next level.”

Li is a seasoned industry veteran with more thna 17 years of experience. Most recently, he was general manager and assistant president at one of China’s largest travel companies, where he spent ten years growing outbound tourism and business events operations.
