Fleishman-Hillard Singapore appoints Melvin Yong as senior VP

SINGAPORE - Fleishman-Hillard has appointed award-winning media and communications veteran Melvin Yong (pictured) as its senior VP to lead the growth of the firm’s corporate and financial communications practice in Singapore.

Yong has amassed more than 15 years' experience in corporate and financial journalism, crisis communications, issues management, on-air news presentation, digital integration, and media management and training.
 
In his role as senior vice-president at Fleishman-Hillard, Yong will provide strategic counsel to key clients across a range of sectors, with an emphasis on corporate and financial communications. As a seasoned and well-known media professional, Yong will also conduct crisis communications and media training for clients.

Prior to joining Fleishman-Hillard, Yong served as executive business editor and presenter for MediaCorp's news, radio and print cluster. He headed the group's integrated business desk and was responsible for the news-gathering efforts of the team that produces news content for MediaCorp's television, radio, newspaper and online platforms.
 
Yong was also a key member of the MediaCorp NewsHub management team that oversees the group's strategic direction and driving synergies across units.
 
Aside from his editorial responsibilities, Yong was an award-winning presenter. In 2001, he was named Best News Anchor at the Asian Television Awards. He was also named Presenter of the Year at the MediaCorp News Awards in 2006. He has anchored prime time business programmes, including Asia Business Tonight, Singapore Business Tonight, Primetime News and Money Mind, as well as a range of business and news analysis shows.
