GroupM China attracts former KPMG China partner as chief of operations.

SHANGHAI - Alan Fung, former partner in performance and technology at KPMG China, has joined GroupM China in the newly created role of chief of operations.

Fung (pictured), who has a law degree from the University of London and an engineering degree from the University of New South Wales, will be responsible for operational efficiency across all businesses and disciplines of GroupM China, and the daily operations and development of GroupM's information technology unit.

Fung has worked across multiple business functions and across various industries in China, Hong Kong, and the Asia-Pacific region.

Prior to joining GroupM, Fung was a partner at KPMG China, based in Shanghai, where he worked for nine years, specialising in technology, media and telecommunications. 

He has extensive experience in the areas of outsourcing risk management, information security, enterprise risk management and business resilience. He has served clients in various industry sectors, including government, technology, telecommunications, media and financial services.

Fung led the establishment of KPMG’s China Sourcing Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Shanghai to assist global and domestic clients in their outsourcing needs. He has been invited to conduct training in outsourcing for outsourcers and service providers in China. 

It is his first time at a 4A agency. Asked what attracted him to join GroupM China, Fung told Campaign Asia-Pacific: “GroupM’s focus on operation efficiency is relentless and focused. I would like to contribute and be a critical force in this pursuit of efficiency and excellence.”
