HP teams with EA game release

ASIA-PACIFIC - Hewlett-Packard has launched an online marketing initiative based around consumer-generated content to tie in with Electronic Arts' upcoming Spore computer game.

HP teams with EA game release

Consumers across the Asia-Pacific region will be able to create their own characters for the game, which that will launch in September 2008, and showcase them in a design competition, co-hosted by MTV Asia Networks.

Spore is one of EA’s biggest gaming releases this year. It allows players to create their own universe, designing worlds, developing creatures and creating civilisations. Because it is an online game, it also allows players to explore worlds created by other people.

The PC serves as the critical link to connect users with digital content and experiences that are important to them, said Ajay Mohan, vice president, marketing, personal systems group, Asia-Pacific.

The competition will encourage players to upload them to www.sporeshow.com. There they can play with other people’s creatures, including those designed by MTV VJs and celebrities.
