Hong Kong is selling the iPad from US$386 to $773. In Singapore, the WiFi only iPad is priced from $532 to $751. WiFi with 3G is from $678 to $897. The prices for an iPad is relatively lower in Hong Kong compared to the US, while in Singapore it is more expensive.
On eBay Hong Kong, one of the highest offers for an iPad is $2600. eBay Singapore is less intense, but still sees a seller offering an iPad for $1463.
At the City Plaza Shopping Centre in Hong Kong, it was sold out within 30 minutes. It was also sold out at the 313 Somerset mall at around 10:50am. Hong Kong is expecting to be the key supply source for the mainland's grey market.
According to online intelligence service Experian Hitwise, the Apple Store's website is ranked first in the most popular electronic website category, claiming 14.8 per cent of electronic retail traffic. Traffic to the Apple Taiwan's website has jumped 424 per cent in June compared to 2009.
Apple is already seeing a 78 per cent jump in profit to $3.25 billion in the third quarter of 2010, and 52 per cent of the overall revenue comes from outside of the US. In China it has increased by 144 per cent and in Korea by 184 per cent, while Hong Kong has doubled.
