MCI lands in Hangzhou

The MCI Group has opened an office in Hangzhou under a joint venture with two state-owned enterprises Hangzhou Tourism Investment and Hangzhou Zhonghe Investment, with MCI China as the main shareholder.

Florence Chua is named as the new MD of MCI Hangzhou while the new shop will initially work on content creation and curation for its partners' integrated space projects "Urban Constellation" and "Qianjiang Century Park". MCI said it plans to hire around eight to 10 staff for the new team.

On the launch into the second-tier city, Frankie Gao, managing director, MCI China, said the joint venture was a strategic move to engage local communities in co-creating platform and IP content.

Home to Chinese tech giant Alibaba, Hangzhou was ranked second to Beijing and Shanghai between 2011 and 2015 by International Congress and Convention Association.
