MDA appoints Edelman for PR in Singapore

SINGAPORE - The Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) has appointed Edelman as its public relations partner in Singapore.

The account was previously handled by Burson-Marsteller. As many as five PR firms had signalled their interest to pitch for the business when the tender was called earlier in August.

Edelman is expected to provide PR and publicity services to support the Government body’s corporate and promotional announcements to raise the profile of the country’s media industry.

According to the tender’s documents, Edelman is also expected to develop an integrated communications plan for MDA’s regulatory initiatives.

“This is a significant and important brief to win as it looks at both regulation and media promotion in one of the most pivotal moments in a rapidly evolving media world. We are proud to work with the Media Development Authority over the next year in Singapore to develop, drive and deliver their communications needs across all areas of media influence,” said Jonathan Sanchez, Asia-Pacific regional director at Edelman.

Formed in 2003, the MDA champions the development of a vibrant media sector in Singapore and recently launched the Singapore Media Fusion Plan (SMFP) to support the Lion City’s transition to a creative economy.

In July, MDA roped in major mobile players including SingTel, Nokia, Microsoft, MOZAT, Zingmobile, Qualcomm and Huawei to launch the FutureMobile partner network to develop innovation and on-the-move content for mobile devices.
