The board of directors on The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) has elected Anbu Varathan as its 2020-2021 president, the first Indian to helm the role in the association’s history. Varathan currently serves as director general and CEO of Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association, organiser of the IMTEX exhibition, and CEO of Bangalore International Exhibition Centre in India.

"I am delighted to be part of UFI’s top leadership in the coming years and to continue with the development and support that UFI has provided the industry for so long,” said Varathan. “As the first president in UFI’s history based in India, I’m even more pleased to have been elected to this position, and it is a great honour for me to fulfil my duties.”

Varathan will work closely with current UFI president Craig Newman and 2019-2020 president Mary Larkin to connect, support and promote the global exhibition industry.
