Akihiko Kubo joins Williams Lea Tag as representative director for Japan and MD North Asia for consumer, retail and life sciences.

TOKYO - Williams Lea Tag has appointed Akihiko Kubo as representative director for Japan and MD of North Asia. 
 
Kubo, who started new new role on November 1, was most recently chairman of Ogilvy & Mather Group Japan. Prior to that, he was president of the group, during which time he managed six operating companies across advertising, digital planning, PR, activations, social media and digital media planning and buying.
 
Over the course of his career, Kubo has also been CEO and president of Weber Shandwick Japan and MD of McCann Erickson International. In 2007, he moved with McCann Erickson to London to take the post of global business director. 
 
"Aki has a wealth of expertise in leadership, strategy, business development and client engagement," said Todd Handcock, APAC CEO, Williams Lea Tag in a statement announcing Kubo's appointment. "His proven track record is invaluable to Williams Lea Tag"
 
Kubo believes the marketing communication services firm is poised for growth in Japan. "I see a great opportunity to grow our business by offering immediate and tangible value to our clients.”
