In this newly created position, Chin, who assumed her new role in mid-July, will drive the company's regional marketing strategy together with the executive team based in Singapore.

Chin is also the general manager of Expedia, Southeast Asia, where she is responsible for strategic initiatives across the market.

“Dolly is exactly the leader we were looking for as we continue to grow the company’s regional footprint as the world's largest travel site and communicate our offerings to an expanded audience of travellers across Asia,” said Dan Lynn, CEO of AirAsiaExpedia.

Prior to AirAsiaExpedia, Chin was vice-president of marketing at Electrolux. She has also held marketing and business development roles at Dell and Nokia.

Since its establishment a year ago, AirAsiaExpedia has been expanding rapidly, including the launch of two localised websites in Singapore and Thailand, offering a selection of 400 airlines and 150,000 hotels. Most recently, the joint venture launched Backick.com, a rewards-based website that uses Facebook to dole out discounts to users.

AirAsiaExpedia also runs full-service Expedia sites in Japan and India, and hotel-only businesses in other Asian markets.
