The poles, which stand 12 metres high, are designed to project branded images of digital art, graphics, photography and lighting sequences. According to a statement from Cheil, they will also serve as an information service, providing a stream of live images and footage, and information such as cinema screening times and public transportation guides.

A spokesperson from the agency said the information would be “continually changing”.

The fixtures will be operated by KT (Korea Telecom), while Cheil will be responsible for content production. They are placed along Kangnam Main Road at 30 of thirty metres.

The spokesperson said it was hoped that the structures would “enhance the area” – which is among Seoul’s busiest – by creating an added element of visual dynamism and serving as part of the city’s branding.

Current advertisers include Samsung Anycall  and a local restaurant, VIPS Salad and Steak.
