Get into Cathay Pacific's San Francisco lounge with your Klout

HONG KONG - In an interesting social media tie-up, Cathay Pacific will allow Klout users with a score of 40 or higher on their Klout iPhone app to enter its first and business class lounge in San Francisco International Airport.

Klout is a social media analytics tool that assigns a score that indicates a user's influence across his or her social network.

Before this, the only way to use Cathay's lounge was by holding a first or business class plane ticket. The promotion is a unique recognition of the power of social media influence.

"It made sense for the trial to be launched in San Francisco where Klout's presence is strongest and our lounge there, newly opened last year," said a spokesperson for Cathay. "The promotion has certainly generated the attention we hoped it would. We will see how this trial will pick up speed in the market. It would be interesting for us to consider whether to extend the trial to other markets."
