Langham Hotel celebrates 146th anniversary with social media campaign

GLOBAL - Langham Hotel will celebrate its 146th anniversary on 10 June by offering afternoon tea at its original price of 1 shilling 5 pence. Langham Hotel first served afternoon teas in 1865.

For the promotion of this century-old afternoon tea heritage at Langham Hotel, its marketing team is using social media with a Facebook campaign, and word of mouth through social media (like Kaixin.com in China ) and PR activities.

Contestants have the opportunity to win an afternoon tea by answering the question, 'If you could have anything for afternoon tea, what would it be?' and emailing a photo to [email protected].

Anyone who receives the most ‘likes’ for their afternoon tea suggestions, will be invited to enjoy the afternoon treats at Langham Hotels in Auckland, Boston, Hong Kong, London, Melbourne, Pasadena and Shanghai.

This year, guests are requested to wear a whimsical touch of pink, which is The Langham’s own signature colour, now celebrating its fifth anniversary, while enjoying the afternoon tea treats including cakes, sweets, bread and butter and of course, tea.

Acknowledged as one of the most elegant and sophisticated of dining occasions, the first afternoon tea at The Langham, London, was served in the Salle À Manger, or general dining room for ladies and gentlemen for the princely sum of 1 shilling 6 pence.
