MediaCorp launches new mag as Arena shuts

SINGAPORE - MediaCorp will develop Style: Men, previously a supplement on women's title, Style:, into a fully-fledged magazine following the closure of the Singapore edition of Arena.

MediaCorp launches new mag as Arena shuts
The closure follows an announcement in March that Bauer Media was pulling the plug on Arena UK after 22 years of operation.

Zita Ong, MD of MediaCorp’s publishing division, said: “MediaCorp was ready to continue publishing Arena Singapore despite Bauer’s news two months ago but with further evaluation, it has become evident that without the content resource of the international editions, maintaining a local one has its limitations.”

Style: Men was launched in 2004 as a monthly supplement to its flagship fashion title Style:. The new magazine will be launched in the last quarter.

Ong added: “Style: Men is one of our most successful brand extensions and I believe it will now be even more successful as a standalone magazine. It fits perfectly into our lifestyle publishing arm which already includes two of Singapore’s top fashion magazines for women, Style: and Elle. Together, these magazines will reach out to a large, targeted readership of both men and women, all of whom are motivated by fashion beauty and style.”
