MELBOURNE - Myer, Australia's largest chain of department stores, has appointed STW's Ikon Communications for its US$45 million media planning and buying business in the market.

Myer hands $45 million media account to Ikon Communications in Australia
According to local reports, STW is thought to be creating a dedicated agency brand to service the account.

The appointment ends Myer’s six-year relationship with Universal McCann.

The department store chain called the review in August and was believed to have shortlisted Universal McCann, Mitchell & Partners, Mindshare and OMD at the time.

However, in November, Ikon was brought in along with Starcom after Mitchell & Partners had opted out of the review after winning rival department store chain David Jones' $38 million media business.

In February, Badjar Ogilvy retained Myer’s creative account.
