Publicis, DM9 JaymeSyfu and Lowe score gold at Tambuli awards

THE PHILIPPINES - The Tambuli Awards 2011 took place on 9 June at the University of Asia and the Pacific, showcasing the best of local and regional advertising, and societal values.

Leading the list of winners were agencies that won the few gold Tambuli awards. DM9 JaymeSyfu picked up a gold for the best small budget brand campaign with its work 'iVow bruise campaign' for political party Gabriela.

Publicis JimenezBasic also won gold for its 'Pregnant pause' TVC for Nissin Monde corporation as the best family-oriented brand campaign. The work also earned the Carmencita Esteban Platinum award for advancement in business performance while espousing commitment to social goals.

 

Meanwhile, Lowe & Partners Malaysia was the only international agency to scoop up a gold Tambuli award for its 'World's first autistic choir' campaign for Kidzcare in the new best advocacy campaign category.

 

The Effectiveness Agency of the Year prize was given to Publicis Manila, while the premiere CMO of the Year award went to Margot Torres, vice-president for marketing at McDonald's Philippines. "Contrary to what some bishops may think, we take our marketing seriously," she said in her acceptance speech.

The fast-food giant found itself in the headlines earlier this year for its new TVC which was eventually pulled out under pressure from the influential Catholic Bishop's Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

Overall, DM9 JaymeSyfu was awarded one gold, four silvers and one bronze. Publicis JimenezBasic walked away with one gold and six bronzes, Lowe & Partners Malaysia brought home one gold and two silvers, while Leo Burnett Manila had garnered three silvers and four bronzes by the time the event was brought to a close.

Other agenices that took home awards were Touch DDB with one silver and two bronzes; Contract Advertising India, DDB Philippines, Lowe Philippines, Momentum and 5thP Advertising Services each receiving one silver and one bronze Tambuli each. TBWA Santiago Mangada Puno, Ogilvy PR and Ogilvy & Mather all were awarded one silver for their work.

McCann Worldgroup led the bronze awardees with seven Tambulis, while the other bronze winners were GeiserMaclang, Studio 5 Designs, PJ Lhuillier, RS2 marketing Consultancy, Stratworks, EON, JWT Manila, MediaEdge, Dentsu Utama and ABS-CBN.
