Resorts World Sentosa to host “immersive” World Cup viewing

As the World Cup is upon us, venues across the region are capitalising on the craze by holding viewing sessions paired with one-on-one deals and other promotions. One such venue is Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa, which has designed an elaborate entertainment program for fans.

Titled “Football Fever 2018”, the property will transform the Resorts World Theatre and Ballroom into multifaceted spaces for live viewings. For the semifinal and final matches, the ballroom will sport (faux) field turf, floodlights and 270-degree screens made up of seven large screens.

For Round of 16 and quarterfinal matches, the theatre will feature multi-tiered football pitch seats simulating a sports arena.

Each time a goal is scored, larger-than-life virtual cheerleaders will appear on screen to perform an animated cheerleading routine. During halftime, local youth talents such as dancers will perform hip hop, street jazz and b-boying, and LED POI moves while live bands will serenade guests with English, Mandarin and Cantopop hit songs.

In both the theatre and the ballroom, fringe activities such as foosball, beer pong, and electronic darts will be set up. Visitors can also catch the Football Parade, with cheerleaders, dancers, stilt walkers, drummers, and freestyle footballers making appearances.

The venue is also bringing in Singaporean football legends such as Fandi Ahmad and Lee Man Hon for interactions with visitors and friendly matches.
