SCMP introduces app to coincide with iPad launch in Hong Kong

HONG KONG - In anticipation of the iPad's release in Hong Kong and Singapore today, South China Morning Post (SCMP) has announced their plans to launch an app designed with the device in mind.

The new app will be available in a free downloadable trial version as a special launch offer and features all the key news sections of the printed newspaper.

SCMP will be the first English-language newspaper in Asia to develop a dedicated iPad app.

The app will enable users to scroll through pages using an easy touch navigation panel, or flip through different sections intuitively.

Anne Wong, director of marketing at SCMP, said the new app will enable advertisers to really bring their messages to life, and target readers with more engaging creative executions.

iPad versions of advertising executions can incorporate more dynamic and colorful images and the ability to touch and manipulate the various colour schemes or styles, and to flip through brochure pages. It is expected to appeal more deeply to consumers' senses.

iPad users will be able to take advantage of the free trial until early August when the full version is available on iTunes.
