Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center debuts second hall

The second hall of the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center (Tainex 2) officially opened this week with the Taipei International Machine Tool Show (Timtos) as its debut event.

Sitting across the street from Tainex 1, the new property has 156,700sqm of floor space with a capacity for 5,000 booths. It is expected to meet the spillover needs of TaiNEX 1, as organisers of large trade shows have had to previously split their events to the downtown Taipei International Convention Center (TICC).

The ongoing Timtos 2019 is, however, held across Tainex 1, Tainex 2 and TICC.

Meanwhile, the meeting facilities—38 meeting rooms—at Tainex 2 are still under construction and expected to be completed in October 2019. The building, which took six years to complete, was designed by gmp Architekten. Both Tainex 1 and 2 have similar green building features such as the rainwater harvesting system.

Philip T. T. Huang, executive director, Tainex 2, said the venue should be competing on equal footing with Tainex 1 as both properties offer the same rates to exhibitors. “Organisers and exhibitors are usually keen to try out a new building and facilities, so we expect Tainex 2 to draw some interest,” says Huang.

The next event on the calendar for Tainex 2 is the Taipei International Cycle Show later this month, which will also showcase in the first hall.

The exhibition scene in Taiwan is supported by its main industries, manufacturing and ICT.
