TBWA announces departure of China CEO Donald Chan

SHANGHAI - Donald Chan, CEO of TBWA China, is to leave the agency after just over 12 months in the position.

TBWA announces departure of China CEO Donald Chan

Chan joined TBWA China in January 2009 from Chinese digital media company In-Game Media. He previously spent 12 years at Leo Burnett in Shanghai and Hong Kong in a number of roles, including managing director of China operations.

“This was a completely amicable decision,” said Keith Smith, president international TBWA. “Donald has lead the agency with strong new business momentum into 2010, and established a very committed management team, all very much involved on client business and committed to the growth of the agency in China, and we understand his wish now to pursue his career in a different direction.”

Chan added: “While my career will take a different option I have very high regard for TBWA. The business here in China has been developed very much on the strength of the management team, it’s one of the best in the business and I have every confidence in their continued success.”

TBWA said they would announce Chan’s departure date and successor at a later date.
