Tudou tops Apple chart with iPhone, iPad apps in China

Online video site Tudou has launched iPhone and iPad apps in China, topping Apple's Apps Store chart after only one week.

Tudou tops Apple chart with iPhone, iPad apps in China

The Tudou iPhone and iPad apps, developed by Shanghai Quan Tudou Technology Company, already holds the number one spot on the Apple Apps Store on Chinese free apps one week after its launch.

The app opens up to Tudou’s 40-million strong video library which iPad users can access via the Safari browser. The video platform has made it possible to stream videos live with less data taken up by adapting the HTML 5 real time mobile video trans-coding.

This is part of Tudou’s plan to be the world’s first live trans-coding video mobile platform, following the announcement of a heavy investment in new media during August.
