Uber and Canon have teamed up to launch a new campaign celebrating the hidden gems of some of Southeast Asia’s most populous cities.

The #HiddenCities campaign documents the most off-the-grid places in Singapore, Kuala Lumper, Manila, Jakarta and Ho Chi Minh City. The locations were found from analysing Uber drop-off points in each city and additional research.

Then, working with leading photographers, in partnership with Canon and using its cameras, the sites have been documented through striking photography that is hosted on a purpose-built microsite.

“Working with local influencers, Uber can leverage data-driven and culturally-relevant insights to tell the stories of how cities move,’ said Eshan Ponnadurai, APAC director of brand and strategy at Uber.

Naohiko Hayashi, senior director at Canon Singapore, said the campaign showcases each city’s “unique characteristics” and brings “the beauty of these hidden gems to a wider community”.
