Weber Shandwick won the account after giving the client some proposals, and will develop and implement a comprehensive PR programme to promote Diageo’s diverse portfolio including Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Baileys, The Singleton and others.
“Weber Shandwick not only has a wealth of experience and strategic insights in the lifestyle space, but also a proven track record in creativity and innovation — two ingredients common across all our brands,” Shaine DeVenny, managing director of Moet Hennessy Diageo Hong Kong said. "We are excited about the opportunity to work with Weber Shandwick to further develop awareness of our brands in such a sophisticated market as Hong Kong.”
Albert Shu, managing director of Weber Shandwick Hong Kong, said that he welcomed MHD into the agency's lifestyle and luxury client portfolio. "The key challenge is that there is limited media opportunities in Hong Kong, that's why it's important to be creative and innovative to find new opportunities and media platforms that are a nice fit for the alchohol brands."
Reported early this year, Jeremy Cheung joined Weber Shandwick Hong Kong to help strengthen the agency's capacilities in retail, travel, luxury and hospitality business.
MHD works with a number of agencies on a project-by-project basis. It's current roster also includes PHD Hong Kong on the Johnnie Walker media account, and Ruder Finn Guangzhou, which works on MHD's PR account in China.
