Five agencies are believed to be competing for the account, including TBWA, the incumbent of five years, HS Ad, Oricom, Phoenix Ad and Diamond Ogilvy. The business is worth around $8 million.

A source close to the account attributed the pitch to a statutory review process. Woori is reportedly looking to refresh its communications strategy for the coming year. The pitch is scheduled to take place on 17 December.

The company is known to have reviewed the account twice since having appointed TBWA. Woori's most recent pitch was held last November.

Woori Investment & Securities in its current form is the result of a merger between Woori Securities and LG Investment & Securities, which took place in 2005. The firm is in talks with Temasek Holdings to establish a hedge fund for overseas investments, according to reports in the financial press.
