Y&R remains as agency-of-record for the Republic of Singapore Navy until 2014, having handled the business for the past three years.

The Republic of Singapore Navy awarded its creative account to Y&R in Singapore in 2010, following a competitive six-month review that included Dentsu and long-time incumbent Saatchi & Saatchi.

Melvin Kuek, managing director of Y&R Singapore, said the Republic of Singapore Navy is an important because of “the role it performs in protecting our waters as well as those further afield”.

“It is testimony to the hard yards put in by everyone in the agency that we now see Y&R Singapore going from strength to strength with the retention of cornerstone client M1, winning BMW, and now extending our relationship with the Republic of Singapore Navy,” he said.

“We look forward to continuing this momentum in 2013 and building creative and commercial success with all our clients,” he added.

It is believed that the appointment came after the Republic of Singapore Navy called a pitch middle of last year.
