MediaTV: HP's digital strategy

ASIA-PACIFIC - In the third part of MediaTV's series on how to build a brand online, Hewlett-Packard's vice-president of marketing, Personal Systems Group, for Asia-Pacific and Japan, Ajay Mohan, discusses the relevance of social media as an engagement platform.

He says: “I think social media is a way of life for a lot of our consumers. However, the only word of caution I have here is we need to do it in a manner that respects people’s privacy and respects people’s desires. And then allow them to engage with the brand in a way that they would like to engage.”

“That caveat aside, I think [social media] is a fantastic platform. More and more people use social media to express themselves and I think this expression should be heard and understood by brand owners. We should also be exploring to see how we can engage with our customers more meaningfully on this platforms.”

In the interview, sponsored by BBC.com, Mohan also talks about some of his brand’s most successful digital campaigns across web and mobile plus how both platforms allow HP to successfully engage and interact with consumers.

The MediaTV series, which investigates how digital-savvy brands approach online marketing, offers tips to marketers on how they can expand their digital exposure.

The first MediaTV interview was with Greg Fisher, Asia-Pacific manager of advertising and marketing services at Intel.

The second interview featured James Thompson, head of marketing for Diageo Asia-Pacific.
