AMD breaks silence in China, hires Kinetic Beijing for OOH push

BEIJING - Global semiconductor manufacturer Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has appointed Kinetic as its OOH media agency for the launch of its new Accelerated Processing Unit (APU).

AMD breaks silence in China, hires Kinetic Beijing for OOH push

Kinetic reported that it won the account following a three-way pitch against JCDecaux and MPG in May, and has just finalized the one-year service contract that includes OOH media planning and buying duties.

Billy Leung, the agency’s general manager, told Campaign Asia-Pacific that AMD has been inactive for marketing in China for several years but aims to make a big push with the re-launch of its APU, which it calls a ‘breakthrough’ from the first generation CPU in performance capabilities, applied across a wide range of computing devices.

For the launch campaign, which rolled out earlier this month, Kinetic targeted the OOH executions at the national hub of  IT industry – Beijing Zhongguancun.

Leung added that they have also utilized some virgin OOH advertising locations for AMD, including the sky roof at interchange Beijing metro stations, which has not been used by any other brands before.

Kinetic Beijing’s IT category clients also include Lenovo, IBM, Cisco, Dell, and SAP.
