The new property developed jointly by celebrated hotelier Ian Schrager and Marriott is branded as Chinese heritage meets new luxury.

Bund landmarks get a facelift to become The Shanghai Edition

Shanghai's historic waterfront The Bund welcomes a new addition, The Shanghai Edition, a luxury boutique property fashioned on two art deco-styled heritage buildings on Nanjing Road—the former headquarters of Shanghai Power Company and the East China Electric Power Building.

Separated into two divisions, the Shanghai Power Company property hosts the public space, including meetings and events areas that accommodate 200 people and a gentlemen's club-inspired lounge called the Club Room. It boasts a nightspot, the Electric Circus on the seventh floor, styled in the tradition of Studio 54 by celebrated hotelier Ian Schrager.

The East China Electric Power Building, meanwhile, accommodates 145 guest rooms.

Edition is a partnership between Schrager and Marriott; the brand has another property in resort city Sanya and a planned opening in Wuhan. Marriott's other luxury boutique property W Shanghai opened its doors on The Bund in July last year.
