Yu’s new role at TVB will see him champion the station’s upcoming marketing and communication events, as well as being responsible for the My TV platform on TVB.com and its mobile app. He reports to ST Tso, deputy controller, marketing and sales division of TVB.

“The broadcasting model has just changed from traditional to digital broadcasting and mobile apps, hence there is lots of new knowledge and unexplored advertising opportunities for clients,” Yu said.

Yu’s marketing and advertising career has spanned from production house, clientside work to a media company, with stints in both mainland China and Hong Kong.

He worked for Alpha Appliances for eight and a half years with his last post as assistant general manager. The company is the sole distributor for LG televisions and General air-conditioners in Hong Kong.

Beforehand, Yu spent three years working for Sino Media, responsible for events and marketing as well as TV production syndication. He was also in a senior marketing and communication role in Greater China with Kodak for over six years and spent his earlier career at Live Communications, which is now known as Live China.

Reported last July, Ivy Wong, chief operating officer of TVB.com resigned and moved to Next Media Group. Her previous role at TVB.com is yet to have been filled.
