Carat Malaysia group account director heads to Maxus

KUALA LUMPUR – Jessica Lim, group account director, is set to leave Carat Malaysia after a nine-year stint, to join Maxus Malaysia as business director.

She will join Maxus middle of next month, according to Girish Menon, chief executive officer at GroupM Malaysia, who added that Lim will be managing a portfolio of key clients while looking at new business developments.

"We are very excited about leveraging Jessica's experience and multimedia expertise for Maxus' key clients. Maxus is the fastest growing agency in GroupM and will continue to make investments in talent over the next one year in response to client needs," he noted.

Lim joined Carat back in November 2002, most recently heading one of the business groups, overseeing clients such as KFC, Beiersdorf, 20th Century Fox Films and Bank Negara.

Her departure was earlier linked to KFC Malaysia's recent call for an ‘all-new agency’ media pitch, without inviting incumbent Carat.

The four agencies invited to the pitch were Mindshare, Trapper MPG, UM and Zenithmedia.

Some sources argue that Carat's loss of KFC’s media account has nothing to do with Lim's departure, as the fast food chain also called an ‘all-new agency’ creative pitch earlier, without inviting incumbent McCann Erickson.

The fast food chain’s creative account returned to BBDO/Proximity last month, replacing long-time incumbent McCann Erickson, whose contract expired end of last month.

Prior to joining Carat Malaysia, Lim was regional media manager at Dentsu Asia Pte Ltd and media manager at Dentsu Malaysia.
