Casino Regulatory Authority calls media tender

SINGAPORE - Media Monitors, MediaConnect Asia and Malaysia-based News Search have submitted their bids for the Casino Regulatory Authority's (CRA) media monitoring tender. The contract is for one year.

A source close to the review told Media that the CRA tender requires the winning agency to submit media reports via email and SMS by 8.30am each morning. In addition, the CRA is to be alerted of breaking and crisis news coverage as soon as possible.

The winning agency will also be required to conduct up to two sessions of administrator training and three sessions of end-user training at a date and time stipulated by the CRA. The source said the training is mainly to allow the CRA's corporate communications team access to the database of news reports.

According to the tender document, the agency is expected to conduct training sessions at the CRA's office within one week of their request at no additional cost.

“The casinos will be opening in the near future. We hope to assist the CRA by providing timely and relevant media tracking and content analysis services that will help them make sense of the media,” said Leon Hudson, director of sales and client services in Southeast Asia.

Media Monitors has also recently sent in its quotation for the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore’s tender

According to Jim Livingstone, MediaConnect Asia’s general manager of sales & marketing, his company put in a bid following the CRA’s invitation. “CRA is an extremely important client to win. Singapore has gone from no casinos to two overnight. It means jobs in the tourism sector and also negative press arising from money-laundering, loan-sharking and gambling addiction,” said Livingstone.

The CRA was in the news last week for its stringent rules that led to the rejection of casino workers’ applications likely due to the applicants’ brushes with the law in the past.

The statutory board was formed in 2008 to ensure the management and operation of a casino is and remains free from criminal influence or exploitation; to ensure gaming in a casino is conducted honestly; and to contain and control the potential of a casino to cause harm to minors, vulnerable people and society at large.
