Chong (pictured), who will be on board on 1 September, will lead the functions of marketing and customer service, public affairs and community relations to help drive customer service excellence and strengthen ties with customers and the community as a whole.

She has over 25 years’ experience in corporate communications and customer services and has held various senior management positions in the Hong Kong Tourism Board (formerly the Hong Kong Tourist Association), hotel and aviation industries.

Most recently Chong was director of corporate affairs at Cathay Pacific, which she joined as head of corporate communication department in 1998. In 1999, she received an award for Best Crisis Management at the Asian PR Awards for her handling of an industrial action by pilots.

“I am confident that Chong’s solid experience and leadership will help the company in meeting the various business challenges ahead,” said Richard Lancaster, managing director of CLP Power.

CLP Power Hong Kong is a Hong Kong utility subsidiary wholly owned by CLP Holdings Limited, a company listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and one of the largest investor-owned power businesses in Asia.

Meanwhile,  Cathay Pacific  announced in May it has promoted Chitty Cheung, general manager sales Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong since August 2009, as the new director of corporate affairs to succeed Chong.

As part of a senior management reshuffle, Simon Large, former general manager of Cathay Pacific Japan, will be replacing James Ginns as general manager of marketing and product, while Ginns is moving on to the post of general manager of inflight services and will continue to be based in Hong Kong.
