Ma (pictured) has 12 years of 4A advertising agency experience in Hong Kong, including roles with Bates, Publicis and Lintas.  He resigned from McCann Erickson Guangming Hong Kong in August 2010 after serving the company for over a decade, including over seven years with the Cathay Pacific Central Team (CXCT) where his last post was group account director.

After McCann, Ma spent a six month stint with OMD Hong Kong as business director earlier this year, working primarily on the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) account.

"I am very excited to have the opportunity to work in Hong Kong Airlines," Ma said, " Hong Kong Airlines already has a very strong and capable marketing team, I hope my appointment with my relevant experience in the advertising and aviation industry can further strengthen the team's marketing capability."

He added that HKA will have a hectic year in 2012 with a lot of projects in the pipeline. These include the launch of all-business-class long-haul flights to London in March.

HKA, which was established in 2006 with a focus on leisure travellers, is a challenger brand to the other big players Cathay Pacific (which cater more towards frequent and corporate flyers) and Dragonair in Hong Kong. It has routes to over 30 destinations in Asia and China.

Currently HKA works with a local ad agency for its corporate communications.
