Design winners: Cannes Lions 2018

Japan is the big APAC winner in Design, collecting eight of 13 Lions awarded to the region.

Judges awarded one Grand Prix in the Design Lions, to AMVBBDO for their 'Trash Isles' campaign for Plastic Oceans/LadBible. 

A total of 7 Golds, 25 Silvers and 37 Bronze Lions were handed out in this category, with the APAC region collecting 13 of these. 

Japan took home the only APAC gold, awarded to Six Inc. Tokyo/SPA-Hakuhodo Co. Ltd for their Obsession for Smoothness campaign for paper brand Double A. 

Obsession for Smoothness also won one of Japan's three Silver Design Lions. The other Silver Lions went to: 

  • Dentsu Inc. Tokyo for the 'One Plus One' campaign for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Japan
  • Dentsu Inc. Tokyo for the 'Eating Kabuki With Your Fingers' campaign for Shochiku
  • Cummins & Partners Melbourne for 'The Most Interesting Job Interview' campaign for The Australian Secret Service
  • Dentsu Jayme Syfu for the 'Dead Whale' campaign for Greenpeace Philippines

The judges also awarded seven Bronze Lions to the APAC region. Four of these went to campaigns from Japan, with one each going to China, Australia and New Zealand.
