Tsao (pictured) was previously head of creative at investment company J. Christopher Capital which runs an online fashion business. It was a role he held between offices in New York and Shanghai.
Before that, he was with DraftFCB Shanghai as a senior creative executive working on clients including Semir, Oreo, Nivea, Shanghai General Motors and Haier.
Tsao has more than 10 years of experience with agencies such as iWant-in.net Taiwan, Think Studio Taiwan, and Ogilvy One China.
“Bringing Ethan’s talents and edgyness back to Draftfcb enhances our seamless messaging across all media,” said Eddie Wong, national executive creative director of DraftFCB China. “He will occupy an important role in driving online and offline communications with consistent strategy and execution to all consumer touch points."
Tsao is the second senior creative appointment at DraftFCB in the past week. Dick Chan, previously head of DraftFCB’s digital arm based in Shanghai, has been promoted to the executive creative director role of DraftFCB Beijing.
DraftFCB Greater China chairman and CEO Pully Chau said that in parallel to a specific focus on integrated creativity, the agency was also aggressively recruiting top class talent with skill sets in shopper marketing, analytics and integrated planning.
Reported last April, Tiffana Pun joined DraftFCB as its vice president of planning for Greater China.
