GAC extends partnership with ESPN Star Sports for FA Cup

SINGAPORE - The GAC Group (GAC), a global shipping and logistics provider, has inked an agreement with ESPN Star Sports (ESS) to extend its broadcast sponsorship of the world's most popular domestic cup competition, England's FA Cup, for the next two seasons until 2011.

Commanding a viewership of around 47 million across Asia, the FA Cup is one of ESS’ premier football properties.

Esther Oon-Bybjerg, group corporate communications director at GAC , said that this contract renewal for another two seasons was primarily due to the successes that GAC gained from its earlier partnership with ESS.

“GAC is an ardent supporter of sports sponsorship and the English FA Cup is an excellent fit with GAC’s brand values. The soccer teams exude the qualities of teamwork, dexterity and professionalism,” she added.

Charles Less, senior vice-president advertising sales, ESPN Star Sports, said: “This partnership with GAC is another example of our ability to develop customised media solutions that help meet our clients' brand objectives and create a deeper connection between the brands and viewers."

The Football Association (FA) is the governing body of football in England, responsible for the world’s oldest and most prestigious domestic cup competition.

Last month, ESPN Star Sports (ESS) secured exclusive rights to broadcast the Barclays Premier League (BPL) on multiple platforms in 18 markets across Asia.
