Game Spot is a video gaming related site for news, reviews, previews and downloads. It has already gained international presence with localised versions in the UK, US, Australia and Japan. Game Spot in Australia currently attracts more than 2 million readers from the Asian market.

Game Spot Asia will mainly be driven out of Southeast Asia, but still integrate content from the whole Asia-Pacific region. The site, hosted at Asia.gamespot.com, falls under the management of site manager and editor Randolph Ramsay.

“Our focus will be on expanding our coverage by covering the Asian gaming scene including local events, developers and other trends and areas of interest for our Asian readership, building on the strong foundation of up-to-the-minute content delivered to the site daily by our global team,” said Ramsay.

Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PWC) estimates the interactive games sector in this region to be worth more than US$30 billion in 2011, with an expected compound annual growth rate of 16.4 per cent. PWC also stated that APAC accounts for 40 per cent of global spend on gaming.

Game Spot Asia will attract a high percentage of young males while acting as an entry portal to subsidiary sites like including CNET Asia and ZDNet Asia.

“From a commercial perspective, its going to be about pounding the pavement and getting out to industry and prospective clients to tell the the good news and opportunities around investing in the active, entertainment-savvy Game Spot Asia audience,” Ramsay concluded.
