Godiva appoints first mainland PR agency

SHANGHAI - Belgian confectionery brand Godiva Chocolatier has appointed Proximity Live as its first public relations agency-of-record in China.

Godiva appoints first mainland PR agency
Proximity Live, which assumed its duties for the brand 1 June, was awarded the business following a multi-agency pitch.

The appointment comes as Godiva looks to enter the market. The brand is slated to set up two flagship stores in Shanghai, located in the popular tourist and shopping destinations Xintiandi and Grand Gateway Mall.

“We have been talking with Godiva for a while,” said Angelito Tan, managing partner at Proximity Live. “The luxury market in China, while in its infancy when compared to traditional markets, is still growing fast.”

The win adds to Proximity Live’s roster of luxury-brand clients in the market, such as Moët Hennessy Diageo Group, Calvin Klein and Tiffany & Co.
