Hughes, who was appointed as one of GolinHarris’ three new presidents last year (the other two are Gary Rudnick, president for the Americas, and Matt Neale, international president) will continue to report to CEO Fred Cook. He is expected to be at his new station in January, "signaling the agency’s commitment to grow its operations throughout this extremely important and dynamic region", the agency said.

The agency currently operates in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia.

“We have a strong network in Asia with a dynamic leadership team,” said Hughes. “My job is to grow our presence by bringing our clients deeper insights, bigger ideas and broader engagement.”

Hughes helped orchestrate three acquisitions in the last 12 months—including digital agency Fuse, consumer lifestyle marketing firm Nicole Weber Communications and healthcare specialist Virgo Health—and will look for similar opportunities in Asia, according to the company.
