The Toon Creator Awards 2010 kicks off on 12 July for children between the ages of 6 to 14 from Australia, India, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and Pakistan.

The event challenges kids to create their own avatars and participate in online challenges to defeat the evil character Mojo Jojo and his gang. Children creating their own 25-second animation will stand a chance to win a HP TouchSmart PC.

Kids are encouraged to embark on online journeys with cartoon characters including a Great Barrier Reef clean up with Flapjack in Australia and dragon boat racing with Ben 10 Alien Force in Taiwan. Completion of each journey will unlock secret items to help with the animation work. There is also an opportunity to win a lead a role in upcoming animations.

Benjamin Grubbs, regional director at Turner Entertainment Interactive media, said, "The response to our inaugural Toon Creator Awards in 2009 was phenomenal as nearly 26,000 kids across the region embraced the opportunity to step into the shoes of a Cartoon Network animator."

227,000 animations were submitted last year.

"This competition is close to our hearts as it encourages and inspires creativity and innovation at a young age," adds Dennis Mark, vice president and general manager of marketing in Personal Systems Group for HP Asia-Pacific and Japan.
