HP becomes Pacquiao’s first global endorsement deal

MANILA – Boxing promoter Top Rank and the William Morris agency have secured Manny Pacquiao’s first global sponsorship deal, for HP's new tablet.

Confusion surrounding Pacquiao’s representation had left many international brands reluctant to sign up the boxing superstar, despite his multi-million dollar appeal and fanatical fan-base.

HP’s search for high-profile celebrities had been partly hampered by the fact that many entertainers and athletes were already tied to conflicting deals across a wide range of products.

But because Pacquiao’s sponsorship deals tended to be domestic within his native Philippines, he was free to embark upon the HP deal, which is estimated to be worth US$1 million per year.

The campaign will include television, radio, print, outdoor and billboard components, all of which will feature the fighter and run globally.

The announcement comes ahead of WBO Welterweight Champion Pacquiao’s fight in Las Vegas this weekend against Shane Mosely.
