MALAYSIA - Derek Tan, IPG Mediabrands’ regional senior partner of Social Media in APAC, is leaving his role at the company to join former boss Prashant Kumar’s new venture, Entropia.

“Unfortunately, I will not be able to comment on my new role at present,” Tan told Campaign Asia-Pacific when asked about his new position. “There will be further news and updates from the organization and we'll be in touch at the right time.”

Calls to Kumar went unanswered, and IPG Mediabrands declined to comment.

In March, IPG Mediabrands named Bala Pomaleh as CEO in Malaysia following Kumar’s resignation as president of world markets and CEO of its Malaysia office. Kumar then went on to join Kuala Lumpur-based Entropia, which positions itself as both an advertising agency and consultancy.

Most recently, Entropia scooped Permanis Sandilands’ media business from Carat. Entropia now reportedly handles buying and planning for the firm’s 18 brands.
