Iris Worldwide appoints David King as regional CEO for China

SHANGHAI - Iris Worldwide has appointed David King (pictured), currently the MD of Rapp China, as regional CEO for China.

Iris Worldwide appoints David King as regional CEO for China
King will start his new role in early December and report to global CEO Ian Millner.

King will be based in Shanghai and will oversee the agency’s client base in the region - in particular the Sony Ericsson business across Greater China, which will be serviced out of the Beijing office, which opened its doors earlier this year.

King joined Rapp’s Shanghai office as managing director in January 2007, following the sale of Tarantula China - the company he co-founded in 2002 - to Publicis Groupe. He has since grown Rapp China from a start-up to a well-established agency of 37 people with clients such as Friesland Campina, Johnnie Walker and Virgin Atlantic.

In addition, board director Chris Martell, who has been running the Sony Ericsson business in Asia for the past 18 months since joining from TBWA/Tequila, will relocate from the Singapore office to Beijing to lead the business across China.

The news follows last month’s announcement that Josh Thomson will take up the role of regional CEO for APAC, which will see him responsible for all Asia markets outside China.

“The opportunity in China is huge and as we focus on driving our ambitious expansion plans in the region and other emerging markets, we look to attract the best in talent. Ian Millner, global CEO of Iris said.

Iris - which services a number of global clients in Asia-Pacific region including Sony Ericsson, adidas and Sony - has grown the independent micro-network to 15 offices in 10 countries across the globe.
