Jon Stewart comes to Papua New Guinea and Mongolia via Comedy Central Asia

SINGAPORE - Viacom International Media Networks will be launching 24-hour comedy channel Comedy Central Asia on 1 November in Singapore, the Philippines, Cambodia, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Mongolia.

Comedy Central Asia will be transmitted by Starhub Singapore, Skytel Philippines, PPCTV Co Cambodia, One TV Myanmar. 

The channel will also be launched in Papua New Guinea via Channel 8, in Samoa via Bluesky Moana V and in Mongolia via SkyMedia. The eighth territory, Thailand, will begin transmission on 1 December via IPTV operator TOT IPTV. 

The region's first 24-hour comedy channel's programming line-up will feature The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, South Park and Anger Management. The Channel will debut with Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff.

Localised programming during the weekend includes a two-episode marathon of The Noose, a top-rated, Singapore-produced news spoof comedy.

Comedy Central Asia aims to be the platform to showcase Asian comedy and comedic talent. In addition to subtitling, localisation initiatives in the pipeline include local productions, commissions and more acquisitions. 

Comedy Central is VIMN’s third global brand (after MTV and Nickelodeon) and expands VIMN’s current offerings in Asia by moving into the adult-skewed entertainment sphere, targeting viewers aged 18 to 34 years old. It currently reaches more than 200 million homes in over 70 countries.
