Maxus and McCann awarded media and creative for new shopping mecca Hysan Place

HONG KONG - Maxus Hong Kong and McCann Worldgroup Hong Kong have been named media and creative agencies of record, respectively, for Hysan Place shopping mall, a new high-end mixed-use commercial and office building due to open this August in the city's Causeway Bay district.

The wins come after separate media and creative pitches in the first quarter.

Jasmine Tsang, strategic planning director of Maxus Hong Kong, said that the client looks forward to having a true partner and to providing more integrated and digital solutions, which it sees as crucial factors for success in connecting with shoppers.

Hysan Place, developed by Hysan Development Company in the heart of Causeway Bay, will comprise a 40-storey mixed-use tower with 15 levels of office space and 17 floors of ‘trend-setting’ retail outlets, totaling 710,000 square feet.

Hysan has confirmed that the location will contain a new Duty Free flapship concept store, and it has been reported that Taiwanese iconic bookstore chain Eslite will be renting 40,000 sq ft or three floors.

The company does not want to disclose too much information about its other retail tenants until the launch campaign begins this summer, but “with over 90 per cent of retail space leased by the end of February 2012, the retail tenants will include brands new to Hong Kong,” Gerry Yim, Hysan's chief executive officer said in a press release.

Local online media reports have tipped that American fashion brand Hollister California plans to open its first store on Hong Kong Island. Other retailers rumoured to be Hysan Place tenants include GAP, Apple and Abercrombie & Fitch.
