This follows last week’s announcement that Ed Thesiger had been appointed CEO, Group M Indonesia.

Shekhar has worked with GroupM and Mindshare since 2000, starting in India before moving to Indonesia in March 2010. He has, since then been managing director of Mindshare Indonesia’s Unilever business - the single largest unit of GroupM Indonesia. During this time he has produced some highly celebrated campaigns and consistently raised client satisfaction scores.

The Mindshare leadership role had previously been split between Team Unilever, run by Shekhar, and the rest of Mindshare under Henny Minarti.  This new role takes on responsibility for all of Indonesia combining the two positions, which had previously operated independently.

With over 13 years of experience, Shekhar is tasked with raising the bar for digital and innovation in the world’s fastest growing media market. Given the pace of change in Indonesia, Shekhar’s accession to CEO is an exciting transition for Mindshare Asia-Pacific which, according to RECMA figures, is the largest media agency in that market, handling a quarter of Indonesia’s advertising investment.

Ashutosh Srivastava, CEO of Mindshare Asia Pacific, said, “We are proud to announce Himanshu as the new CEO of Mindshare Indonesia. (He) prioritizes a strong internal culture above all else and embraces digital and original thinking in all of his pursuits. His experience in leading the Unilever team is invaluable and he will no doubt bring great results.”
